I'm writing a sociology paper and need some outline guidance, it's my first sociology paper?

My topic is along the lines of how the traditional family has changed or something dealing with being a single parent in today's society. So any help on an outline or narrowing my topic down would be awesome!

Traditional families used to have 2-3 kids with a mother and a father, and could get by with just 1 parent's income.

Today's families are diverse, not just 1 type anymore, and in the past it was very difficult to be a single parent. Now there are so many programs, local and federal, that provide support to single parent families.

Also there used to be a stigma placed on single parent families, they used to be looked at as bad or shameful, now they are so common that it is not abnormal, and people have gone from looking down upon single parents to respecting and admiring them.

I hope some of this helps :)
