My dad won't let me buy my own things?

I am almost a teen. I have about 700 dollars that I saved up (PS, I. earned. it.) I want to buy my own iPad, but when i asked my dad if i could buy, it WITH MY OWN MONEY, he said no. When I asked why, he said becuase I would think it was mine. But here is what makes me mad: IT IS GOING TO BE MINE!!! he thinks he can use it whenever he wants whenever he wants. It makes me cry sometimes because all my other friends get to have their own lives with their own stuff and i have to share my life with my parents. Please help what should I do?

P.S-I'm an only child if that helps anything.

    Talk to your dad. Tell him that it is your money and you should be entitled to spend it how you want to.

    Hang on to the money for a while longer. Talk with your mother and see if she will help you. As for your friends, they have to live with their parents and their rules too
