should i change my trans. fluid?
i have a 2004 Chevy astro with 94k miles. the trans is starting to slip when cold, and the fluid is brown and burnt. im wondering if it is too late to change the trans fluid. i have heard of people with bad transmissions changing their fluid, and the car never moves again. as far as i know, this trans. has never been touched. i bought it with 48k, and never did anything to the trans. i would like this trans. to go a little longer if possible. please help. thanks.

is the trans fluid topped off?
unfortunately, i doubt it will do any good changing it if its full. the brown color/burnt smell is from the clutches inside the transmission wearing out. hate to say it but sounds like you need a rebuild.

Change the fluid, the filter, and clean the pan. It is a cheap enough try. If you have it done, don't let anyone talk you into anything else right away. Good luck!

Change the transmission oil and filter immediately. If you wait to long to do this one day your car won't move one day.
