on both sides of a sensitive issue there are the lunatic fringe and I could see that someone that didn't get their side of the issue would find a way to at least attempt something so stupid,yes.I do think that both Governors you name had some foresight into the possibility of such a scenario and their security has been increased accordingly.Now whether or not that state trooper is willing to take a bullet for a Governor he may or may not like is another question.
