Why is it the whole world squirms under the old covenant?
Nowhere in the Bible is it stated that if I do not forgive, God will not forgive me, how ridiculous can this situation get, which means it must be done by my hand. The whole world has swallowed hook line and sinker, the covenant of works. Look at the answers this question has generated.
Morals, standards, priniples, these are what I fought most of my life, now I know these are dead.
This old man was born under the old covenant of death and shall chase it until my father raises me from this grave. Romans 7, no not one can deny this beautiful statement.
I have yet to see a decent answer, so whatever Yahoo gives, so be it.

Ah.. the fundies will just love my reply, unless - as it appears, they have blocked my answer (and the truth).
From the link:
When god created man, he made him to appear as a physical image of himself. Man was physically complete, but spiritually incomplete. god’s overall plan of salvation calls for all (at some point in the order he has predetermined) to receive the holy spirit in order to grow to become spiritually complete. This plan is being implemented in carefully planned stages, with the vast majority of humanity not being called in this age.."
So, once again, we see another example of god's failure. god made man as a physical image of himself, but was incomplete. And for god's failure to make man correctly at the onset, we all have to suffer. god screwed up and its our fault.
Reminds me of the Italians before Mussulini: "wheres the train?" "I dont know... maybe soon maybe later... lets have some wine" "va bene' " So, is god Mussulini or Amtrak?
NO WONDER the xian god is a 'no show'. Its like the Yugo!

A very small percentage of the world's population attempts to strictly follow "old covenant" teachings which are found in the Old Testament. The Orthodox Jewish community in Israel comes the closest, especially with the ruling by the Chief Rabbi that Orthodox Jews are strictly prohibited from using any mechanical device on the Sabbath and this ruling covers elevators regardless of what floor you may live on in a high-rise apartment building! However even the most rabid Jews are now prohibited from carrying out some Old Testament teachings such as the formally very popular stoning to death of women who engage in adultery.
It's important to realize that the Old Testament contains God's instructions for a primitive society that required extremely strict and explicit rules in order to maintain order and compliance. When society became more sophisticated through education and the wide-spread dissemination of moral cultural norms,God sent Jesus into the world to teach a new covenant which has much less of an emphasis on regulations and much more of an emphasis on free will morality. The difference between the two covenants is best illustrated in these statements from Jesus:
Matthew 5:43-44
43 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
The most amazing thing is that there are those who call themselves Christians who flatly refuse to accept this teaching from the One they claim is their Savior. In fact just yesterday I received an email from a man who identifies himself as a reverend on this message board. He strongly objected to my linking of the verse above to the blasphemous war in Afghanistan because of the Sept. 11,2001 (ten years ago) attack in New York City.New covenant Jesus followers practice this teaching from Him :
Matthew 6:15
"But if you don't forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."
