Ideas for my senior project on teaching?

So, I'm doing my senior project on elementary education. I'm having trouble coming up with a final product for my project. It has to be something that we can physically show to the judges when we make our presentation, and I'm stuck. Along with just observing a teacher and helping her out, I want to do something with the kids involving art. So, I was thinking of doing an art lesson and a art project with them and making a bulletin board outside their class. But, other than that I can't really think of anything to do. I want to do something more, like something I could leave behind in the school or something like that.

I'm pretty open minded, so anything that you could think of that would go along with art, or just teaching in general would be great!

Thank you in advance! :)

    I like your idea !

How about involving them in making a Scrapbook. You could all chip in to take photos showing the class/kids performing various activities ; or you could do a page for each child of that class & get the same child [or his/her friend] to decorate that page. You can use drawings made by the kids for the background or for parts of the decoration along with embellishments made by the kids themselves. You don't need to Buy a readymade scrapbook. All you need is the same size of paper, handed out to the each kid to decorate. Once all are completed, you can get them bound/punched together in a binder.

You could involve the kids in making a Story book. Together, you can all come up with characters & plot for the story & develop it. Then allow them to draw out the characters, setting/scenes, things, etc. Besides drawing, you can include origami crafts, pop-ups, cut-outs, stencils, etc. too.

Make a huge bouquet of flowers for the room or the school. Each kid makes at least one paper flower [origami or kirigami or otherwise] & together you can all create this huge bouquet of artificial paper flowers that you place in a vase aesthetically & present to the principal to display to entire school. There are links on how to make paper flowers. Google it or if you are interested in this activity, I can provide you with a list.

Maybe make some wall decorations for the class? Chain/string of paper beads, rolled paper photoframes, clay models/imprint pictures, sand art, kirigami buntings, mobiles, etc. etc.

    Hope some of these help?

    Have fun :-)

You can brain storm answers with the students they are very intelligent and some of them will be entering college soon anyhow. Just give them a composition to write on about new school projects. I am sure they will have good ideas and they will be happy to stick to it and make it a success since they created it and it wasn't forced upon them. Just ask them the basic Wh questions as a reference point to stick to the basics at first. Also they can work on the projects as a group so that all participate. There are many ways and ideas but it would be nice to let them brainstorm.
