need help jailbreaking recent OS Ipod touch?

Question

I, like many other people, feel somewhat oppressed by Apple restraining what the frankly amazing piece of technology is capable of. So I went to jailbreakme.com, and was told that the version was too recent, I needed 4.0 at the very LATEST, I think I have 4.2. Now, while I'm relatively competent in the field of technology, this is over my head. Which is why I'm throwing myself at the mercy of your superior knowledge, only you can help me with this. I don't have Wi-Fi at my house, and would really prefer if everything wasn't erased, although I do have everything on my laptop, so guess it's not a huge problem. I really appreciate the help guys!

oh, i realized you don't have a wifi since you can't download anything from cydia in your device.
But i would like you share this with you in case you have wifi after jailbreaking. 

Jailbreakme mostly works on IOS4 which i used it before.
Then I upgraded to IOS 4.2.1 (latest) using the jailbreak Greenpois0n.

1) So just back up your device if you are going to upgrade your firmware/IOS.
2) Download IPod Touch _G (4.2.1/8C148) from this site (you can save this file it anywhere)
---> http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
3) Go to iTunes from your computer, hold SHIFT and CLICK RESTORE then find your file you downloaded. * after the installation, you may restore your data in your device*
4) Download Greenpois0n jailbreak from this site
---> http://www.greenpois0n.us/2011/02/download-greenpois0n-rc-61-now.html
5) Open Greenpois0n. *make sure your itunes is closed and iPod Touch still plugged in*
Now just follow direction in that software so it would ask you to do DFU mode 
*if you don't know how to do DFU mode, i recommend searching in youtube for demonstation*
After DFU mode, click Jailbreak!
