time off work due pregnancy?
I was just wondering what type of benefit's are available when pregnant. I am in full time employment doing perm nights. my work is physically demanding and involves chemicals. I have just found out i am pregnant. my question is i don't think i will be able to work till maternity leave is due. i just wondered if i was signed of work due to pregnancy problems what money i would be entitled to. I only get statutory sick pay which works out to about £85.00 per week. so cant afford to stay off if that was the case. but i know for a fact i wouldn't be able to get my duties changed so i could continue with work.
thanks hope that made sense.

By law your employer MUST change your duties if they would be hazardous while you are pregnant. Approach your manager and tell him/her that you are pregnant, tell them you want a full risk assessment to be done to make sure that your job isn't gonna harm you or your baby.

The other answerer is right they have to modify your duties by law. They are not able to fire you either. If you can't do the work they still have to pay you.
You won't get any benefits.
