Trouble updating my first build?

Hi I just built my first pc and now I'm having trouble getting these updates to actually update... Right now it's installing:

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64 based systems.

I have a 64-bit of Windows 7 OEM installed.

When I was going to install these updates I was thinking it would be fast because in 1 hr. it completed 41 out of 65 updates. But once it got to that security update thing above, it seems like my Internet go disconnected and stopped trying to install. My problem is it's been installing this for the passed 2 hrs.

1) How long does it take to install this?

2) Is it ok to Stop the installation and reboot my system and try to install it again?

    Make sure you have down loaded the Windows Validation Tool.

    Start → Type Window Update in the Search Box → Custom (see results on the left) → Install Windows Validation
