i would not buy the above

    Choosing a laptop for college

Let me say that you should enquire what software the college uses, and follow suit. When the college upgrades you upgrade.

You need to buy XP pro or win 7 pro , or ultimate. You need these versions so that the laptop will work on a domain server. The home editions will not connect reliably to a domain server (they keep disconnecting every few seconds). A domain server is the type of internet and intranet that a large company use, so if you going to plug into large company networks you need those Operating Systems.

Anything over 2 kg is heavy to carry. You can lose weight by having two power packs so that you don’t need to carry the power pack. You can lose weight by not having a cd rom in the laptop. You hardly use cd's or dvd's, you just have an external usb one in your desk draw. (It will get used about twice a year if you lucky)

Autocad type programs require at least 2.4ghz processor or better. Dual core means that a full 2.4 is available for the programs as the other core drives the OS and other processes.

You need at least 4 gig ram for autocad.

If you get an over the top powerful laptop it will not last on batteries. If you do a 30 min bus commute for example you need to look at the battery life. Also you can have a 19 inch screen at home to plug into the laptop, so this gives you opportunity to buy a small screen for less weight and more battery, eg 13 or 14 or 15 inch.

For office I suggest to consider a docking station to plug the laptop into, so look at a model that will support a docking station. The laptop sits at 45 degrees with its screen the same height as the top of the 19 inch. You have separate mouse and keyboard. Two screens is a must for successful grades.

The thing has a 500GB hard drive. Of course your music would fit since 2 and 8 are smaller than 500.

The computer has a Celeron processor, which means it's going to be slow regardless as Celerons are incredibly terrible processors. However, it would be ok for iTunes.
