Who here has heard if Charlie Sheen has made contact?
with Jon Cryer or the young man who played their 'half'?? What an arrogant ***, even if there is a slight possibility he isn't bipolor ( after 58 yrs with a family member with the disorder and 35 yrs in the field of diagnosis and treatment I think I'd know) as he continues to deny-I dare him to see a real shrink and try some Seroquel, Celexa and Ambien. This is the new bipolar cocktail to ensure mental stability, and get rid of the infant with his days and nights mixed up. Of course, he'd have to admit he may be wrong since he is "winning" his way out of a job, huge paycheck, and making a fool out of himself in front of his parents, brother and fans. Good God man wake up!! And after 12 hrs take an ambien. Sleep methinks is lacking in the many minds of Charlie Sheen. I would be thrilled NOT to hear anything at all about or from him for 6 months on a psych ward. This can happen to anyone, and I do mean anyone and at any time. I was on lithium for several years, suddenly I became lithium toxic and I ended up supine in a hospital bed being detoxed (kidney failure isn't fun). Thank God, I had people who cared and scraped me off the ceiling. I'm on the cocktail mentioned above and am either too sleepy nor too awake, I am not insulting those who dragged me out of the doldrums when the polar went the other way until 3 weeks later I awoke myself again. Of course normal is a relative term, but an asshole is in fact an asshole and Charlie Sheen, should be thankful for the diagnosis 'bipolar' rather than continue to ruin the lives of his castmates.

I agree with you. Martin must be appalled. I think Jon Cryer made the show, anyway.

They discussed this in an episode of "Through The Wormhole". The biggest problem is to have a common frame of reference, basically a Rosetta stone. We know from information theory how to detect when something is communication and we've done so with Dolphins but without a frame of reference, it would be very difficult to translate but we know they have a language. With a Dolphin, we don't have much of a frame of reference but with a technological civilian, we have math in common. We could begin with prime numbers and with concepts such as pi, and natural e. The movie, Close Encounters wasn't very realistic, it was a Deus Ex Machina approach where control of the communication was just handed over to a computer and magically happened. It would take a lot longer to establish first nouns, then actions and grammar and would require a lot more interaction than just music.
