Can male members of the Marine Corps have genital piercings since they don't show?

I am writing a book involving a US Marine who served in Iraq, and during one drunk night on leave at home before his second deployment overseas in 2005, he got a genital piercing. Do the Marines allow this sort of thing since it does not show when in uniform? How about a "crossed crown of thorns" tattoo on one bicep gotten before his first enlistment in 2002??

I do not think the Corp would be particularly impressed with the piercing.

They would probably look upon it as some sort of a "gay" thing and BTW despite the rules and regulations homophobia is alive and well in the corp.

Operationally he is a liability as any infection he gets would make him a burden to his squad, given the amount of crawling and cover and movement that is done operationally during contacts and training the propensity to get an infection would be huge.
