why do people at school treat track and field like its for gay and stuff?

im on the track team and im pretty good at it, i've gone to CIF last year this year im hoping to do the same. i try to get my friends to join track with me but they say track and running is for ******* and stuff (but no offense to me). i tell them if its for ******* then they should have no problem joining if they're the tough guys they act like they are. it pisses me off, i mean i got a 6 pack and im in great shape, why the hell do people think track is wimpy, im pretty sure no one at school can run a 400m dash in 52 seconds like i can
