how to find the perfect bra size?
i have always been a "hopeful" B but more like an A and a half. recent um, "developments" have required me to acquire new bras-and i think i'm doing it wrong. cup size if for the girls and number is for the back, correct? so what does it mean when i'm spilling out the top? do i go up a cup or up a number?? i've been wearing the same bra size since HIGH SCHOOL and apparently have no idea what i'm doing. i haven't gone to victoria's secret 1. because they're over priced 2. i'm a little squeamish about anyone other than my doc near my bosom. woe is me. plz help ladies!

If you're spilling out, you need a larger cup. I would recommend remeasuring yourself just to make sure you have the right idea of what sizes to try on.
1. Measure tightly around your chest, right under your bust. This is your approximate band measurement. If the number is odd, add or subtract an inch depending on how "squishy" you are (if you're squishy, subtract; if you're more muscle-y and firm, add an inch). Don't add more than an inch to your band measurement. That was done before bras had elastic and could stretch. Band sizes go down to 28, so don't feel that you have to fit into the 34s and 36s that VS sells.
2. Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Subtract your band size from this measurement, using the difference to determine cup size (1"=A, 2"=B, 3"=C, 4"=D, 5"=DD/E, etc).
Also remember that cup size is relative to band size and a 34A has the same cup volume as a 32B, 30C, and 28D, but is on a larger band.

Measure round under your breasts.
Measure round the fullest part of the bust.
If the second measurement is 1 inch higher than the first you need an A cup
If the second measurement is 2 inches higher than the first you need a B cup and so on.
Having said that bra makers are like dress manufacturers. they all have their own differences. In most brands I wear a 32D but some I buy a 34C
In the case you mentioned if it feels comfortable around then you need a bigger cup size.
