In order for CD to be parallel to AB, D has to have the same Y coordinate as C so that they form a straight line, like A and B do, therefor, D has to be (1,-1).

if lines are parallel then they have the same slope

    with two points, you can find slope by taking: y2 - y1 / x2 - x1

    so AB = 3 - 3 / -4 - 2 = 0

if slope is zero, then the x coordinates have to be the same, so for CD to have a zero slope, "x" we are looking for must be -1

    I think it is - 1. The y value is 3 in both A and B

    AB is y = 3

BD must be y = - 1 if it is parallel

The second number of A and B is the same. If the lines are Parallel, then same must be true of D and C.

    Answer is -1

    Hope this helps
