mtg tag team decks help?
ok so me and a friend want to build a pair of decks that will work really well together, that would be built for each other, like they would help each other out, like boost each other, were not sure exactly what deck types would be good for this, any ideas?
um yeah i thought this was pretty clear by the mtg thing, but apparantly not, im asking about the Magic:The Gathering card game
yeah i didn't say two headed giant because i don't necessarily want it specifically for that game type, i considered using that instead of tag team however two headed giant rules aren't always the same as rules where everyone is against each other and you can make "allies" so therefore the the decks may not work as well in those kinds of games as they would in two headed giant if i specified i wanted THG

Ignoring synergy between creature types what you really need are two decks that compliment one another.
You need to be running a deck that covers your friends decks weaknesses and he should be running one that covers yours.
Having trouble getting through with you fatties, have him run deck that focuses on removal. What worked for me and my friend in our THG game was this.
I ran a Mono white deck that was basically built to stall any and all opponents. Lots of protection and things like wing shards, story circle, ghostly prison, windborn muse, you get the idea... i only ran a small amount of creatures meaning that games would take FOREVER when played head to head. However partnered with my friends hyper aggressive Red/Green deck, while i was busy stalling our opponents he was busy bashing faces in....
Its all in how they compliment each others weaknesses....Playing one kind of creature type will be effective but it also means you share the same glaring weaknesses. Most of the time.
Me and that same friend came up with tribal THG decks that ended up working great together. I focused on a Green/White Elf deck filled with lifegain and pump. While he ran a Green/Black Elf Deck that focused on creature and hand control. He ran cards that attacked EACH opponent which is key to these kinds of games. Cards like: Honden of Nights Reach, Unnerve, Words of waste, and Syphon Mind. (Syphon Mind and Words of Waste together pretty much empties your opponents hands.
Anyway those are just some fun ideas we have played with maybe it will give you something to start on. Main thing, have fun with it. THG allows you to try new things with the game you wouldn't want to try head to head. Explore your options, goof around, have a blast.

Terminology:
Yu-Gi-Oh: tag dual (ie 2 vs 2)
MTG: 2 Headed-Giant or 2HG (2 vs 2)
It is because you used 'tag team' in your question which throw off some of the people who didn't read carefully.
Back to your 2HG decks with your friend. A few ideas I can think of:
1) Sliver. They are mostly li'l creatures which come with different abilities to help each other out.
Check this link for all Sliver ever printed in MTG: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.a...
2) Affinity. Artifact affinity is really powerful. You can find most affinity cards in Mirridon block.
3) Elves. There are Elves Lords which buff up other Elves and grant them forestwalk. And there a some Elves cards which let you put a basic land (forest? :P) under your opponent's control. So in a way, you make your team of elves unblockable.
4) This is what my brother and I run. He is red/black removal + control. I am blue/green counter (another way of control) + beefy green creatures. He clears our opponents board and I put done nasty creatures to attack. My 'blue' also have card draw engine for us to draw cards so that we don't run out of gas.

I'd like to tag-team with Masters, unless he already has a partner. (If he has a different partner in mind, random partner for me). WA: CM Punk will face John Morrisonm losing the title to the Tuesday Night Delight.
