What type of external Hard drive is the best but not to expensive?

I'm looking to get an external hard drive for one of my birthday gifts and I would like some opinions on what type works the best because i've heard of review of some failing after a couple of years.

But nothing too expensive!

I have a toshiba laptop; windows vista

If you have 1 that works like a charm let me know (one that you can buy in store not over the internet)

-and holds a lot*

Thanks!

Try seagate 500Gb, it has smaller price difference to a 320Gb.

I bought a Seagate External USB drive for $45 new at Walmart. Granted it is only 320 gb, but that was way better than my aging 40gb internal one. Has been working great for months, no problems.

If you don't need TONS of space, just get a smaller one, 45 dollars was pretty cheap too.

I bought a 1Tb Toshiba from London Drugs for $137

I thought it was a great price ... I got it on Mega sale though!

USB / SATA / RAID / IDE all compatible ALMOST PnP <=== low voltage too !
