There was a LOT more. for one thing, FREY Hidalgo was a PRIEST and the revolution was formented in his CHURCH (which still stands). His main patron was ALLENDE whose name was given to San Miguel del Allende to hoor his role in the revolution which BEGAN IN PUEBLA

FREY Hidalgo and a small band of his supporters was captured near the Texas Town of SOCCORO and executed by firing squad.. and an interesting sidelight was that FREY HIDALGO was allowed to FACE the firing squad as an honor to his being a priest, while the rest of the group was shot in the back.

The MODERN TOWN of GOHLIAD is a re-arrangement of the name HILDAGO. You do know about the MISSION near that town, right? AND if you are REALLY into Texas history.. then visit the battlefield at SAN JACINTO CREEK which is called the Mexican Waterloo

That whole period is a fascinating study.. I suggest you spend some time learning about it.
