Why Franciscan Missionaries kept fruitless missionary work in East Texas,18th Century after so many failures?

I mean, they attempted colonizing Texas by building missions for the Hasinai Indians who really just wanted trading bonds and protection from their enemies.

Update:

The system of Missions and Presidios in East Texas in the 18th Century (the 1700's) was a total failure, the missions of San Ildefonso, San Francisco Javier and Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria were all built in the 1740's and failed to convert one single Hasiai Indian, they were destroyed by the very Indians they were meant to convert.

Sad but truth, the Texan Indians were just interested, as you already said, in trading and warfare alliances but had no interest in the catholic faith, still the indians would request missions to be built on their land knowing that forts would be also built to protect those missions.

    Missionaries or Monasteries?

Missionaries are focused outward on the surrounding community.

Monasteries are focused inward on the spiritual growth of the monastics living there.

Monastics work in a different time frame than most of the rest of the world.

    Many might say something like:

    "Fruitless??

    Why we've barely gotten started...

We only started work here 250 years ago!"
