Can someone help me calculate what grade i need to get to get an A in English for Semester?
ok so Semester grade = first quarter (40%) + second quarter (40%) + Semester exam (20%)
and in first quarter I got a 77%. What do i need in second quarter and what do i need on Exam to get a 90%. for the semester. Thank you.

you gotta get a 95 in the second qtr, and a 94 on the semester exam

(x*60+77*40)/100=90
60x+3080=9000
60x=9000-3080=5920
x=5920/60=98.667
what is x?
It's your second quarter (66.6%) + Semester exam (33.3%)______________(it's in this case not 40/20%, pure math (sq=2*Se so 66.6=2*33.3)
CONCLUSION
(you probably don't wanna read the math)
What you should get on the exam depends on how good your score was on the second quarter:
So every percentage you get more than 98.667 on your second quarter, you can afford having
two percents less than 98.667 on your exam.
I think this should be correct, but I don't give you a guaranty this method is 100% correct. (although, I've been doing this kind for like 7 years: if we get a monthly report, it's never a total percent we get for all subjects, only once a grade )
