Can you play Playstation 2 games on a PS3?

    Only the following PS3 models were capable of playing PS2 games, but all of these models were discontinued well over two years ago.

    20 GB - CECHBxx

    60 GB - CECHAxx

    80 GB - CECHExx

    60 GB - CECHCxx PAL

    Every PS3 model made, since the four listed above, clearly state on the box that they are not compatible with PS2 game system disc's....its there you just have to look for it.

    All PS3's play PS1 games.

    On the fat ones yes, and the old slim one yes. You have to download a ps2 app from the psn store. If you have the recent ones like 160 gb hell no. You can play ps1 games.

    Older model PS3s, yes. Newer ones, no.
