I believe Nuclear is relatively safe due to the large number of plants and a handful of problems. However, I do realize how disastrous any one of those problems can be. It's a question of risk assessment as to whether we should deploy more nuclear power plants or not. In a perfect world, all plants would be built with grade A materials and no imperfections would be present in the building process. In the real world, contractors out there love to cut corners and to seem to meet standards and codes. It's until a disaster happens that people start to think that not *all* nuclear plants are safe and that's when it gets into people's heads that nuclear is unsafe.
I am still not sold on nuclear energy. I think there are better and cheaper solutions to save energy, reduce waste, and move onto cleaner, more efficient forms of energy. For instance, solar energy has the most diverse uses of energy. we can use the sun's energy passively in buildings and heating systems as well as actively with photo voltaic panels. an array of solar panels is tremendously cheaper than constructing a nuclear power plant with the latest safety standards and fail safes. Our civilization is practically designed to be using solar panels already, so why not use them?
peace!

Nope, from what I understand crab fishing is the most dangerous activity. Also, a lot of it depends also what Nation you are in. What I find funny is that we have had only three major nuclear incidents in over 50 years but everyone is freaking out when most people who sun bath all summer gets a lot more radiation then those working in the nuclear field.
