  • When is the right time for a baby to start dating?

If I wanted to put a baby in a tuxedo and set it up on romantic dates with people (age 0-23 years old), how long after birth should I wait, and also any tips/tricks on helping the baby keep the girl/guy interested?

  • What are some movies/videogames with good female protagonists?

As in characters that are the main focus of the story.

  • A bunch of scientists in unrelated fields don't believe in evolution, how about that?

Isn't that a good way to make a point?

Guess they must be right. I mean, if some scientists I've never heard of said it... The evidence is overwhelming.

I need to stop making questions which refer to a specific answer someone gave to a question, which nobody read and so will misinterpret this one (the last question I asked was about the misuse of "scientists say" by people and the media to give credence to ideas which -most- scientists do not believe to be the case)

    15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality10 years ago
  • Do you believe it when people say "Scientists say"?

Scientists can get paid to smudge research all over the place. They're just human beings like anyone else. And just because a tiny number of scientists are having research funded to oppose an otherwise widely accepted belief does not mean that "the issue is still under debate".

Why is everyone so willing to take information without context? This is the same in pretty much all walks of life. Why are we being lied to repeatedly by people who claim to be telling us the facts?

(Mostly I am referring in this section to the theory - not hypothesis - of evolution, but the same thing works for cigarettes, drugs, politics etc)

One answer that I hear sometimes is because they expect you to look up the context for yourself, but if they wanted that, wouldn't they at least give you some idea of where to look for it? It seems pretty obvious that they want you to be uninformed and confused so that you keep watching or reading the news, so that they can slip in advertisements or their own personal agenda.

So, I guess my second question would be: Why, in the 21st century, is news more trivial, deliberately misleading BS than ever?

They said they'd be here by now.

  • Should the Bible be updated?

There are all these future-histories of like tribes or whatever from the middle east and I'm like "yeah yeah cool" but then it's like at least 2000 years out of date and they just stop

How do I know where these tribes are today?

Maybe we killed the descendents of the good ones by accident? Was anybody keeping track?

  • Atheism, what's the deal?

I'm like, come on, guys, let's like, worship some god or whatever, and they're like "nah man, I'm cool".

I guess I have to go worship some god or whatever by myself.

    Huh, problem solved.

  • December the 21st, 2012?

I heard M.I.A. predicted the end of the calendar on December 21st, 2012. Is this true?

  • When will the illuminati grow up?

It seems like all the time they are just hiding dumb symbols in things like a game of Where's Waldo.

We get it, guys, you're illuminati, whatever.

  • I looked under my eyelid and there's a mark like in that one movie, am I a clone?

I was pretty sure I wasn't a clone for a long time but then I looked under this eyelid and then I guess I'm a clone? I remember one time I shot a guy who looked just like me but I thought that was because they were the clone.

  • If you're looking for confrontation, are you more likely to see it in places where it doesn't exist?

Kind of a confirmation bias type of thing? I see that a lot on Yahoo! Answers, particularly this section, so I figured I'd ask. I guess that's one of the main problems of the human brain, kind of the permanent semi-paranoid state.

We've got a lot of problems inherent to how we think and interact which makes me question the intelligence of such a design, although I guess it is effective if it was designed to keep us apart and mistrusting each other.

That's something I have difficulty believing.

  • R&S: Everybody dies someday, it's pretty scary?

I mean, there's that jellyfish they discovered that can live forever unless it's killed by violent means, kind of like one of Lovecraft's Deep Ones (which were, of course, related to his fears of inter-racial breeding, but all the same) and scientists were working on finding out how that worked so they could maybe transfer it to humans?

Man, that would be pretty crazy, if every so often we just went back to the state of being a baby again instead of dying. I guess we use up too much energy and we're too complicated to really do that, compared to a jellyfish. It's an interesting possibility though.

How do you think religions would change if it was discovered that we could, by chemical enhancement, live on indefinitely in this way?

  • Just a little survey into the mind of Yahoo! Answers.?

I don't believe in werewolves, vampires, monsters or aliens visiting the earth.

I don't believe in any real kind of religious or moral code other than the one you set up for yourself.

I don't like the way politics works, I don't like the way people think they have to choose sides with every opinion they have.

I'm fine with heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality.

I'm not fine with incest or necrophilia. The rest I'll judge on a case by case basis but at the very least I'm usually going to consider it "pretty weird".

I don't believe in the death penalty, or torture, or hitting even your own child.

I don't like cricket (but I wouldn't go so far as to say that I love it).

I think the idea of national identity is stupid.

I don't like discrimination against race, gender or sexuality, or even prejudice.

    So, how 'bout you guys?

  • Atheists, Theists, etc: Can't we just agree to disagree?

I really wanna get my knowledge on about the hardcore facts of old Russian bear god Veles and you guys are clogging up R&S with your continuous yelling at each other.

I'm not talking about -all- atheists/theists, but the majority of people on here just seem to think they are the personal Highlander and that by decapitating all other viewpoints they shall gain unlimited power, I mean you probably got that just by the Highlander reference but I figured I'd spell it out in case people haven't seen that movie.

It wasn't that great of a movie but man, fantastic soundtrack. Anyway, who can hit me up with some of that sweet sweet Veles knowledge?

  • Atheists: Kinda sucks, doesn't it?

I mean, if you're religious you get to see all the injustice in the world and think "Some day, they're gonna pay for that in the afterlife".

We don't really get to have that. Just kinda sucks, knowing that people can do whatever they want and usually get away with it.

I guess there's personal guilt, so there's that.

Do you think atheists are more likely to have a negative world view than those with faith?

  • How many new religions are being created today?

And how well are they spreading? I was considering maybe starting a religion about this guy who is called John Grant (not the musician, I found a YouTube link and this guy on YouTube really idolizes this friend of his who is called John Grant for pretty much no reason, it is a little creepy) but I was wondering if I could straight up start a new religion with some Holy books or would I have to tack it on to another religion as a sect?

  • Atheists: I slipped on a banana, now I believe in Jesus?

I slipped and fell and then while I was down there I thought hey maybe this is all totes the worst and instead of like believing in rationality and whatever and having a negative world view I guess I just kinda thought hey I'm gonna die someday and it's really scary, what about if instead of thinking it ends when I die I just believe in like, I dunno some dead dude or something

    and then it hit me

    another banana

straight up some dude chucked the banana at me, I gotta tell you those things really are the atheist's nightmare

  • I just want to make sure I'm clear on the rapture thing?

So basically, a guy scams people into giving him a load of money for his "non-profit" organization, splits up families in the process, possibly worse, talks people into giving him money instead of spending it on medicine, basically potentially ruins thousands of lives, possibly directly causes deaths.

Then, rather than apologize, he says he got the numbers wrong, waited a while and did it again.

This time around he gets a little more publicity, the world is waiting for him to make a statement the day after it doesn't happen. He basically sits around and just comes up with the fact that it was a "spiritual" rapture, and that everything's still fine and on course, but the decision on who's getting into heaven has already been made.

If more people actually believed him, and believed that now, as of May 21st, the decision has been finalized on whether you're going up or down come October, do you think there'd be a lot more crazy sex parties? Because, I mean that would be one upside. Seriously, the guy's terrible and I have no idea how he can live with himself and keep doing this. I guess he has a family to feed.

But, can I get some clarification that those are basically the facts?
