I just want to make sure I'm clear on the rapture thing?
So basically, a guy scams people into giving him a load of money for his "non-profit" organization, splits up families in the process, possibly worse, talks people into giving him money instead of spending it on medicine, basically potentially ruins thousands of lives, possibly directly causes deaths.
Then, rather than apologize, he says he got the numbers wrong, waited a while and did it again.
This time around he gets a little more publicity, the world is waiting for him to make a statement the day after it doesn't happen. He basically sits around and just comes up with the fact that it was a "spiritual" rapture, and that everything's still fine and on course, but the decision on who's getting into heaven has already been made.
If more people actually believed him, and believed that now, as of May 21st, the decision has been finalized on whether you're going up or down come October, do you think there'd be a lot more crazy sex parties? Because, I mean that would be one upside. Seriously, the guy's terrible and I have no idea how he can live with himself and keep doing this. I guess he has a family to feed.
But, can I get some clarification that those are basically the facts?
PS: Rocky, actually my thoughts were that those who were previously on the fence about sex parties might have been pushed if they believed that they'd already done some sinning earlier but now think it's too late to repent.

I cannot judge his motives. So I don't know about the first paragraph.
I do think your understanding of paragraph 2 is correct.
Don't know about paragraph 3. It's hard to judge what people would do.
At best he is a false prophet.
At worst he is a self seeking arrogant money grubbing false prophet.

The basic facts are that most people, Christians included, do not know the scripture well enough to know charlatans such as Camping when they hear one. Since the time of Jesus, there have been those who attempted to predict parts of the end time--the Rapture being the most popular of events. Jesus said no one knows but the Father, so if Jesus himself did not know why would anyone expect people like Camping to know.
Another fact is people seem to like being duped. This is just one case dealing with the end times, others have used the end of their ministry if they cannot raise ???? dollars. People should know better but then look at those who followed Hitler, Stalin and others in the political arenas of the world.
Another fact is true Christians as a whole would never participate in a sex orgy knowing they are saved does not allow that sort of action. That is tempting God, like saying you have saved me and I cannot be unsaved so shove it, I'm sinning---Weeeee! Oh No it does not work that way.
Forget about October---He is wrong about that too. All you have to do to understand all of this is read it from the Bible, not from Camping or anyone else.

The Bible says that no one the day or the hour, so if he knows his Bible so well he should know that. 'Nuff said. =)
