I will not agree in some things the guy above answer, since it depends in what you purchase and where, but to make things simple here is my answer

Rented apartment, from 400 usd per month to 2000 usd, since there are some expensive neighborhoods also in a 5k ratio.

Medical expenses.- the last time I went to a Doctor was for respiratory reasons to a general doctor, not an specialist cost me 400 pesos, that's like 34 dollars, medicines cost me another 700 pesos, like 60 usd, so yes a 100 usd is right, but there are in Mexico Pharmacies that are called "Similar" where a doctor cost 2 dollars and the medicines are equivalent to the original brand and the cost of medicines can drop to 200 pesos or less, so this way the visit to the doctor will be like 25 usd medicines included.

Utilities:Here are my utilities Natural gas bill: 400 pesos for two months, Electricity 300 for two months, water 250 pesos for two months and that will come to around 80 dollars every two months. but I´m a single guy.

Communications: Internet and phone from Telmex company, cost me 650 pesos monthly, but it can raise to a 1000 pesos due to callings to cell phones; a basic cable plan , no HBO, cost around 300 for a Cablevision subscription, Sky will cost like 450 pesos, and if you have full cable access with all the tv channels that will cost you around 1000 pesos. So in conclusion Communications can cost you from 84 dollars to 164 dollars a month.

Transport.- Metro ticket (tube) will take you anywhere with in the network and cost 2 pesos, like 16 cents of a dollar, bus will be as high as 5 pesos the ride, like 41 cents of a USA dollar, a taxi, the last time I took a taxi was from the Airport to Xochimilco, that's like 20 km, and cost me 150 pesos, that's 12 US dollars.

Groceries.- vegs and chicken twice a week; a package of chicken breast of 400 grams will cost you around 60 pesos, for me that's like 3 servings per package, plus the veggies add like 150 pesos a week, plus any little thing extra you will spend like 400 to 500 pesos weekly, so that's like 2000 pesos a month and thas like 166 US and can be lower some times.

Movies.- movie ticket cost around 50 pesos, and if you go to a VIP showroom with leather reclineable couches, that will be like a 120 pesos. so a movie ticket can go from 4 to 10 US dollars.

Eating out, a visit to California Pizza Kitchen, cost you for two people like 400 pesos, and an up scale restaurant will charge you a 1000 pesos per person, so that is like from 33 to 166 US for two persons.

McDonald's and KFC cost you around 100 pesos per person, that's like 8.34 US but it can be less.

Maid, well my maid comes every week once a week ,she cleans the house and leaves until everything is clean, the cost is 200 pesos but it doesn´t include laundry, iron or cooking. that's like 16 us, and if you want some body full time, you can pay her 2,500 pesos a mont plus room and meals, so that's like 208 US and that's if you can find one.

Any other.- price of gasoline or petrol cost 9 pesos per liter, and 10 pesos for the unleaded, that's 2.83 dollars per gallon or 3.14 for the unleaded.

Baby birth cost at a good, My sister had a Baby recently, in Hospital Angeles, the cost was 60,000 pesos that's 5000 US. I don´t think it can be more expensive than that.
