i have a lot of building exp. not finishing. i need to re-stain childrens playset. any ideas-process-type?

what type of stain to use?? and the process of applying it.

playset is treated lumber, and the old stain is fading drastically. it was an amber type stain.

any help would be appreciated.

First I would use a product called deck wash, follow directions. Then you might want to sand any parts of the swing set that might have splinters or raised knots where kids fingers or knees come in contact with wood. Then use a good oil-base stain,Behr, etc:. I find that using a brush is the best . You could use a sprayer but still have to back brush. If your swingset is under alot of trees, shade i would go with a darker stain, If out in the sun alot you could use a semi-transparent.

    Hope this helps

just use any cheap deck stain, because it will have to be done again in a couple of years. I wouldn't use anything with a finish in it, when it starts to peel off you will have a huge job when you want to re-do it.
