Does Tricare cover water births?

I live in Norfolk, VA, and I am in the Navy. I'm pregnant and am supposed to deliver at Portsmouth Medical Center. Does anyone know if Tricare covers water births and if Portsmouth has water birthing tubs?

Update:

I'm military, we don't get insurance cards.

You should call the member service number on your insurance card and ask. I would guess that most insurances do not cover a water birth because they are not the norm. But it might you just need to ask the insurance company.

Most likely not. Call OBGYN Ward or speak to your OBGYN provider about it. They will have the best and updated information.

If they do not do it and you want it, then you will need a referral to a civilian provider and it be approved.
