Do you believe that the end of the world is near?

I saw a bus that said that the end of the world would be on May 21, 2011. And that judgement day would be in November (or December-I forget) of 2011. Do people actually believe that these things are true?

Yes, some people not only believe this to be true, but HOPE that it's true. Did you know there are Christian cattlemen trying to breed a perfect red heifer so the Jews can restore their temple. Why? Because this is a necessary precondition for the end of days as stated in Revelations. They are investing heavily in an effort to bring about the end.

It's kind of amusing that people have been predicting the end of times for a long time, but it has yet to come true. For whatever reason, this only seems to firm the resolve of these silly, ignorant people. Consider that, if you believe the Bible, even Jesus predicted the end of days incorrectly - saying it would happen within the lifetime of some of his Apostles.

No. The world is not ending. Psalms 104:5 in the American King James Version states, "Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever." However, this system (Satan is ruler), just as in Noah's day, will end. God will not allow those destroying the earth to remain much longer. 1 John 2:17, according to the New World Translation, reads, ...the world is passing away and so is its desires, but he that does the will of God remains forever. This ties in with Psalms 37:29 and Matthew 5:5, which states that the meek shall inherit the earth. Isaiah 45:18 in the Bible in Basic English tells us, "For this is the word of the Lord who made the heavens; he is God; the maker and designer of the earth; who made it not to be a waste, but as a living-place for man: I am the Lord, and there is no other." Matthew 6:10 (part of the Our Father) from the New Living Translation states, "May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven." So, how can God's will be done on earth just as it is in heaven if the world (or earth) is going to end. There are many prophesies in the bible that are taking place right now: Matthew 24:7 and 12, Luke 21:11 and 2 Timothy 3:1-5, which you can read and judge for yourself. I hope this helps.

Is the End of the world near? Yes I believe that but so did the apostles. Is it May 21, 2011? Doubtful, No man knows the day nor the hour of His coming! Yes people believe May 21, 2011 are true and they are basing it off research the guy that also said He was coming in 1994.

Some do. Frankly, I haven't seen any indication that a catastrophic occurrence will wipe out life on earth in the near future. It seems to be just the usual "the end is near" rantings, various predictions made by people that died years, centuries, or millennia ago, and religious babbling.

Splash: lol! That would be scary! o_0 Fortunately it will be "a cold day in hell" before republicans actually allow a woman to lead this country. It's one thing to let her answer to the freak, and then send her on various nonsense escapades across the globe, but it's quite an other for them to actually respect a woman, or go around referring to "madam president". The day republicans put a woman in office is the day I sprout a propeller from my forehead and fly to mars. So don't worry, the earth is perfectly safe from palin.

    I don't really know and I don't really care.

"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

Each new Christian denomination seems to worry about the end of the world a bit too much. Then after a couple of centuries, they realize that there are always wars and rumors of wars, etc.

I won't even mention the hundreds of false predictions of the end of the world over the centuries, all of which were based on individual interpretations of biblical prophecies.

The first century Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

For more information, about what Catholics believe about the end of the world, see: http://www.americancatholic.org/Newsletters/CU/ac0...

    With love in Christ.

You can't "Destroy the World" the world is 4.5 billion years old and 6-7 months of plague is not gonna do ****,i believe the human race will be wiped out in that time though. The Earth in general still has around 5.5 billion years to live according to science. When this wipes us out a new species will become the leader of our planet.

Some apparently do. Wasn't there a study not long ago which concluded that around 40% of Americans believe the Second Coming will

    1. happen, and

    2. happen in their life time.

No. But the world is changing very quickly and is about to change even more. Human civilization as we know it will probably transition to something more advanced before the end of the current century.

This is a very common young-person's fantasy - so garbage channels like History and Discovery pump that handle a lot - they can sell a lot of advertising that way.

Frightened, depressed and anxious people LOVE the idea of the world ending - So do religious people - so they're often the "believers" here.

Harold Camping predicts that the Rapture will be on May 21st 2011 and that the world will end on October 21st 2011.

He made a failed prediction before in the 90s.

And he missed the part of the Bible where it says no one will know the date.

    Odds are it isn't true.

Like every one of the end of the world prophecies.
