Did the U.S. get in any trouble for using Agent Orange during the Vietnam war?

Im doing a research paper for class about the Vietnam war. I was curious if the United States got into any trouble for using the herbicides, Agent Orange. I heard that there were a lot of birth effects and usually, that's bad. Soo...? Can anyone answer this question for me?

The United States received no punishment or trouble for using Agent Orange (also known as the chemical 2-4-5 D or Dioxin)

There were many side effects of the drugs on our troubles including birth defects, cancer, loss of sensation in limbs, loss of taste, erectile dysfunction and many other symptoms and injuries.

Little side note: For years after the Vietnam War, the Veteran's Administration (or VA) refused to pay for the veteran's medical bills if they claimed their injuries/conditions were brought on by Agent Orange. The VA claimed that there was no scientific evidence that the chemical caused their sickness.

Because Agent Orange herbicide remains in the soil for some time, the contaminant TCDD is quite persistent in soil, with a half-life of three years. (In that period of time, one half of the dioxin originally applied would still be present in the soil.)

Evidence also suggests that the defoliant, and in particular the TCCD dioxin component, is a health threat to soldiers who were exposed to Agent Orange during their tour of duty in Vietnam. Tests using animals have identified TCCD as the cause of a wide variety of maladies. In the mid 1990s, the "Pointman" project was begun in New Jersey, which scientifically assessed select veterans in order to ascertain if their exposure to Agent Orange had damaged them. The project is ongoing. In the meantime, veterans organizations continue to lobby for financial compensation for the suffering they assert has been inflicted on some soldiers by Agent Orange

Excerpt of results of the Pointman Project:

On January 31, 2004, a Vietnamese victim's rights group, on behalf of three injured persons, filed a lawsuit in a Federal Court in Brooklyn, New York, against several unnamed US companies, for liability in causing personal injury, by developing and producing the chemical. Dow Chemical and Monsanto were the two largest producers of Agent Orange for the US Military. A number of lawsuits by American GI's have been won in the years since the Vietnam War.

That should be enough to get you started. The point of a research project is to educate yourself, you have a jumpstart now go find out more and formulate your paper.

How does a whole country get in trouble? Use some common sense

In order for a Government to get in trouble" a more powerful government than them would have to dole out punishment...so how was that going to happen? Once again use some common sense.
