Why will my 5.5 month old not drink her milk?

Why will my 5.5 month old not drink her milk. Her teeth came in and she wont drink her milk any more unless I mix something sweet in it. She really just eats her baby food all day. So I don't know why I have to mix any thing in the milk.. I am confused. Any advice. I cant change her milk because I get WIC and this milk is what they pay for.

My baby went through this at about 6 months old. He didn't refuse milk, but he didn't want to drink as much. He was just more interested in what was going on around him to pay attention to his bottle. Plus, exploring new food was more fun that drinking milk. After a few weeks, he started to pay more attention to his bottle as the novelty of food wore off.

If your baby's teeth just came in, it may be a little awkward for her to suck on the nipple at first. It probably feels a little different, and I've read that sometime the sucking action can be uncomfortable to tender gums. This could be a factor too.

Could be too much solids... could be that she is now used to sweet milk and doesnt want normal tasting milk.

at 5 months she should only be getting solids after a bottle as a top up and to help her digestive system prepare for when she goes onto solids full time.

Try not giving solids until she has her bottle... may take some time to convince her.. but a baby will not starve itself.. if she is hungry... she will take the bottle.

Do NOT mix sweets in her milk! Of course she won't drink it plain when you're getting her hooked on junk at a tender age.

Your daughter will eat when she's hungry. Cut back on the solids, which are just for practice at her age, and don't flavor her milk. She'll drink it when she gets hungry enough,

Remember that formula/breast milk is the main source of nutrition for the first 12 months. Your daughter *needs* (plain, unflavored) milk to make up the bulk of her diet for a good seven months more,

My son just started doing this! I find he really only has a big bottle in the morning and at nighttime but during the day he just picks at it if it is offered to him! He only wants sweet potato or banana so I have tried giving him cereal with formula mixed into it so I can make sure he is getting at least some of the nutrition!

    -hope that helps!

She may just not like it. Do not force feed your child because this can do damage to them physically and psycologically. Your best option is to go to the doc, but if you cant make sure she gets enough calcium in her diet. Surprisingly, foods like orange juice, spinach, corn tortillas and waffles all contain calcium. If she will eat these foods she should be okay. Also, make sure she is not lactose intolarant this would make drinking milk unpleasant to her and make her not want to drink it :) You are a very good mother for being so concerned about your child's health!!!
