Is rice flour ok for passover?
My brother and I are competing in our school Grilled Cheese competition but we just realized that it's during passover. We know flour isn't ok, but would rice flour be ok?

Yes, if you are Sephardi and the rice flour is certified that it has been kept from moisture. No, if you are Ashkenazi.
Cake meal made from ground Kosher for Passover matzoh would work.

The only flours that are permitted are the matzoh flour and nut flours.
All Jews agree about that for the first 2 days of Passover.
The Sephardic Jews (their families came from Spain and Israel) may use rice AFTER the first 2 days.
How about making grilled cheese on matzoh - that will be different
Use a matzoh brie pancake or cremsella -but not too sweet.
Almonds can be ground up- think about making an almond cookie and melting a cheese that you like -Swiss would be good with almonds. Or you could use walnuts That is if it is OK to bring nuts into your school.
And for next year, I would suggest giving the principal and Board of Ed a copy of a Jewish calendar so they can be considerate of Jewish community members and also show the community that all cultures are respected.
I don't think people should have to fight for their rights, but I do think that people can respectfully stand up for themselves. Schools would not schedule candy sales during Lent, would they? Or plan a school event that would prevent children from being with their families on Christmas ever?
Sometimes, a community just needs to be made aware of the people that live in the area.Until they know, they probably do not even realize they are causing some students problems or are excluding them.

In order to prevent people from getting mixed up, certain foods that could be made to look like flour were decreed by the Rabbis not to be eaten on Passover. Rice, being that it can be made into a flour is one of them.

No: Rice is Kitniyot and is only for Sephardic Jews. KItniyot are beans, rice flower and things like that. The reason is that they can be confused with Hametz! If you are Sephardic then yes but if not, I would not eat it on Passover
