My crosley turntable is thumping?
I have the one that also has a CD player and MP3 player, I got it today. Whenever I try to play a record it is like the spinning part is not screwed down tightly enough and it moves up and down creating a thumping noise. I realize that it is supposed to move up and down to some degree, but this is way too much, to the point you are missing bits of the song. I'm really frustrated. HELP.
1 AnswerMusic & Music Players9 years agoWill my Parakeet ever trust me?
I bought a parakeet a week ago and on the third or fourth day of just keeping my hand outside the cage I put it in. He didn't do anything but fly away from it so after that I left him alone for a while. The next day I (stupidly) thought may be I should try and get him to perch or go near my hand so whenever he flew away from it i just followed him with my hand. Now he freaks out whenever I go near him or anywhere I close and I'm pretty sure he is petrified of me and hates me... Then today, to attempt to make amends, I thought maybe the issue was that he felt trapped so I opened the door to let him out and he flew out faster than anything. I proceeded to chase him around my room eventually using a small box to corner him in and eventually got him back into the cage. It's my first parakeet and I realize now that that is definitely not what you're supposed to do. Is there any hope for redemption or should I just accept that I ruined it. He's SERIOUSLY afraid of me. HELP.
6 AnswersBirds9 years agoHow important are grades when applying to Oxford?
I know in most UK schools they aren't really about being "well rounded" and instead their students are more specialized. I have a bad math grade but excellent grades in English, History, and Spanish. I want to go into writing and get a degree in English. Will my math grade make it impossible or will they look past it?

9 AnswersDrama9 years agoI can't get drunk, is that possible?
Im sixteen and female. For my b-day my cousin said she would try and get me drunk. It was a controlled thing just so I would know how I'd handle it. I don't plan on drinking at parties but I want to know so that I don't find out in the wrong place. I had about half a bottle of vodka and nothing happened. I wasn't even buzzed. I also did not have a hangover the next day. Is that possible? It also takes about 5 shots of espresso for me to even begin to feel the effects (though that might be from continued exposure) but I don't drink alcohol ever. Maybe three times a year at weddings/holidays/etc. I don't understand whats wrong with me.

1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoWhich reading list would be more interesting over the summer?
I read a LOT over the summer so I am choosing a list of 100 books to read before you die I can't decide between the first 100 of the New York Times list (much more modern, all in the 1900's) or the list of 100 books that are culturally significant. Any idea which one to choose? Here are the links: http://bookstove.com/book-talk/100-books-to-read-b... http://www.listology.com/list/1001-books-you-must-...
I guess it boils down to entertaining vs. cultural. HELPP
4 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIs this ok-ish? Poem about suicide.?
This is about a friend of mine who recently attempted suicide (she didn't die thank goodness) and I wrote it in about two seconds so it's still pretty rough and awkward sounding... 10 points for CONSTRUCTIVE criticism!
BLAME:
Blood pools around an empty shell
Your body lying crumpled on the ground
Living without you is gonna be hell
It’s not your fault
I read the note that you left
I cling your journal to my thumping chest
Your mom looks at me and I know what she thinks
Why didn’t I know?
It’s not your fault
You were my best friend
The only one who knew the real me
No one knew where you would start and I would end
It’s not your fault
I blame myself.
4 AnswersPoetry1 decade agoCan someone please explain to me the ending of Dr. Who yesterday?
**SPOILERS** Ok, when Amy wakes up and she's pregnant, First: HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? I mean, assuming she hasn't been with them... who's is it? Also, how did she get there? And how was she dreaming about it if she wasn't there? Why didn't the tardis energy stabilize her if she was a skin? Anyone who want's to join in on my speculation, please do. I know we can't get any real answers, im just curious about what people's theories are.
1 AnswerOther - Television1 decade agoHow long will my cake last in the fridge?
It is my mom's birthday on wednesday (two days from now) and i am baking her a cake. She is out of the house right now so it would be an optimal time to make it. I am using fondant, homemade icing, and box chocolate cake. Would it last (as in not crack or go stale) for wednesday? I will be putting it in the fridge and covering it with seran wrap.
5 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoPoems about getting through tough times?
Tomorrow is poem in a pocket day at school. Normally I would choose something cute, or fun, or just unique in general. However, this past week my best friend went into the hospital on suicide watch and is still there. It's really hard for not just me but everyone in my grade who knows her so I thought I would do one about getting through hard times. If anyone knows any poems like that I would be really grateful!

6 AnswersPassover1 decade agoHave you read the comic "Rest"?
Rest is a comic produced by Divide Pictures, run by actor Milo Ventimiglia. I was just wondering if anyone has read it and if they had if they think the new movie "Limitless" starring Bradley Cooper totally rips it off. I mean it honestly looks exactly the same to me.
1 AnswerComics & Animation1 decade agoFree Hugs Campaign in LA, safe?
I just found out about the free hugs campaign (if you don't know already, its where you hold up a sign and/or wear a shirt that says free hugs and give free hugs to strangers to try and raise global friendliness and really just to make someone's day!). Would It be safe to do this in LA as a 15 year old girl? Not like downtown or hollywood or anything. Better yet, where do you think would be good? Is it safe?
5 AnswersLos Angeles1 decade agoDo pot brownies smell up the house?
My friend and I are planning on making some pot brownies while my parents are sleeping. Will they be able to smell it in the morning? Also, is the smell the same for butter and oil or is one less potent? thanks! Any other helpful hints would be awesome!
8 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade agoA couple pot brownie questions?
My friend and I found my parents' stash and are planning on using some this weekend. This is our first (and until senior year, last) time. We are planning on baking brownies, but I have a couple questions. First, how jacked up will we be? Second, does the cooking oil (mixed with weed) make the house smell? Thanks for the help! If you have any other USEFUL information, that you think would be helpful we would greatly appreciate it!
1 AnswerOther - Games & Recreation1 decade agoCan I get into Harvard with these scores?
I don't necessarily mean Harvard but it's easier to just pick one college for the main question. I really would like to go to stanford, but i am wondering about columbia, john's hopkins, and schools of that sort. I am a freshman but this is assuming these grades stick. I have a B- in honors bio, but that will change when I have chemistry next year (hopefully), I am in honors english and I have an A, I am in honors geometry with an A-, History I have a B, Spanish I have an A and just got a 99% on my final so I will be in honors spanish next year. I am the leading programmer in my grade, I am in robotics club, I am the freshmen editor of my school's literary magazine, I am building a super robot with a small group of friends, I wrote a YA fiction novel that I am going to try to get published, and I (so far) have 100 hours of community service but will have 200 by junior year so that I can participate in CORE. I know this sounds like a lot, but I am worried about my 2 B's. I am also aware that the SAT is a large factor. I got 0 wrong on vocab, I did poorly on the math but that was at the beginning of last year and I had barely begun learning the things you need. I go to one of the top schools in LA. Again, sounds like a lot, but will the B's make it impossible?

3 AnswersYouTube1 decade agoI keep getting fevers?
(repost w/ more details) I am 14 and I keep getting fevers. They only last a couple of hours and they happen about 3 times a week. This has been going on for roughly a month (give or take). I already posted this and some people said STD's but considering I'm not sexually active, I consider that doubtful. My mom has cancer, and my dad is a jerk, so it has to be something REALLY bad for me to have to tell them. No joke, last year I broke my arm and they wouldn't take me to get an X-ray and made me swim in swim champs. I also have been having really bad headaches/migraines, but this also could be from stress, right? Please don't just says AHHHH GO TO THE DOCTOR. Because, as much as I love that advice, I need somewhat of an idea about what it could be. Obviously it could be a billion different things, but if you could possibly just suggest some that would be awesome. Thanks! (sorry this is so long!)

I am 14 and I get fevers like 3 times a week. It's only for a couple hours, but I get an incredible headache along with normal fever-like symptoms. What could this be?
