Which reading list would be more interesting over the summer?

I read a LOT over the summer so I am choosing a list of 100 books to read before you die I can't decide between the first 100 of the New York Times list (much more modern, all in the 1900's) or the list of 100 books that are culturally significant. Any idea which one to choose? Here are the links: http://bookstove.com/book-talk/100-books-to-read-b... http://www.listology.com/list/1001-books-you-must-...

I guess it boils down to entertaining vs. cultural. HELPP

    The second list sounds awesome!

I am happy to see World War Z by Max Brooks on the second list. I can honestly say it was one of the best books I've read in years. Yes, it has zombies. But it is so much more about the best and worst in humanity. Plus, you can take the word 'zombie' and replace it with any threat... terrorists, plague, whatever... and the book will still hold strong.

So many excellent books! I really like these two books as well.

    28. The Stand – Stephen King

    38. Something Wicked This Way Comes – Ray Bradbury

How many of the book on that list have you already read though? A lot of those books are required reading from high school and college.

this is a hard decision. if you have to choose between just one of the lists, I'd go with the second list. A lot of the books on the first list you will read throughout your school life (I'm assuming you are still in school) so you will have to read them anyway. Plus the books on the second list are absolutely smashing.

I am know more of the stories from the first list but you can download more of the books from gutenberg.org from the second and they don't have to be dull nor to be culturally significant. Doyle was on the second list. Many of books on first list culturally significant

I prefer the first list, but sadly I can't really delve into the 18th century books from the second list. The first list is basically a compilation of some of the greatest works of the 20th century.
