For 5000 kg you could say that a Dodge Ram 3500 pick-up truck weighs a whopping 11000 pounds ( approx 5000 kg, also lots of kids are familiar with the Hummer vehicles so a fully armored M1151 A1 hmmwv weighs just over 11000 lbs.
For the 250 kg, you could say that a large scale refrigerator (like a side by side) weighs approximately 550 lbs or 250 kg.
