GH: Comments on Jake's story gets news attention...?
I apologize anyone may have seen this a couple times. Had problems posting this due to the links.
Anyway, looks like Jake's story has not impressed many and the stories are slowly coming in. What you guys think about the news attention it's getting.

I must tell you, I for one am outraged at Jake's death. Some viewers say "It's a good thing because Josslyn lived" or "now it brings attention to transplants" You want to know what I think ?
Unnecissary, Shocking, and just completely stupid choice. I wish they would just get rid of Guza already, come one. That's enought with him now. They want to fire Elizabeth ? They want to but Jax part-time ? They fired Nikolas ? You know who should be FIRED ? Guza.
To get rid of Jake was the biggest mistake GH ever made. That is the child that Jason and Elizabeth shared. there was so much story behind his birth. and so many storylines available for the future. I really really hope that GH wakes up and realizes this was stupid and puts atwist on the story that Jake is alive.
to make LUKE the driver. don't get me started
They need a serious wake up call and redemtion story to bring their soap back up. to STOP repeating storylines, and to make ti that Jake is alive.
As for me, i'm done with GH for now. Sorry all those loyal fans (y) i'm taking a break.

Thanks for the links. I'm glad this is getting news attention. I really liked the Huffington Post article. It addressed how little respect soaps have for fans lately and all the things wrong with the Jake/Josslyn storyline. I hope someone from GH reads it. Perhaps they would take it as a warning that they need new writers and they need to listen to their viewers, so that General Hospital won't be the next soap off the air.

I think the Author Ed Martin is silly, Carly does not need to be redeem, by the Soap Viewers, they accept her for who she is,. I don't know what the Big Deal is? before this storyline happan and writers kill off Jake. The mother Elizabeth Webber character was runied with way they have written her character past few years etc
Then Everybody was complaining, how the actress of Elizabeth Webber wasn't being used, and they didn't want to see her go, Writers listen and decided to give her character the Front Runner of a Leading Storyline.. Which is Aim to make viewers forgive her, feel sorry for this woman and give her character as 2nd chance, and once again becoming a beloved character

Some of the comments of others are the same things I wondered. If Jake was 4 years old, and Josslyn is supposed to be less than half his age, wouldn't his kidneys have been too big for her?
As flawed as it is, though it does bring organ donation to the forefront which is a good thing. Lots of people including children die everyday waiting for an organ.
I don't think the storyline went "too far". Its a sad storyline on any soap when a child dies, but the reality is that children die tragically and are diagnosed with cancer everyday, a soap really shouldn't be any different.
However I do think they have ruined future storylines that could have been great since he's a member of the Quartermaine, Spencer, and Webber (Hardy) families all legendary families on the show. I think it would have been better had another child been the victim here.
Since they never showed Jake's body like they did with BJ (they showed her on life support and Tony crying over her lifeless body saying his goodbye to her) it does give them the potential to do some damage control and bring Jake back. They could do this when Franco makes his return that Jake didn't die. However, if he didn't who did Josslyn get the kidney from? They would almost need to re-write that it was dream a character had (similar to Dallas when they killed Bobby then brought him back almost 2 years later)

First, thank you for the links. I thought the one in the huffington post was the closest to how I feel. Horrible writing, rerun story, whatever, it is giving GH a lot of press and that shows how much GH is beloved by so many viewers, so in that way I guess it is good. It shows how many people are still loyally watching and how many are truly sick of the way things are being handled on the soap.

That has to be incredibly embarrassing to ABC and I am laughing as much as I am disgusted with that they did. Maybe this will start to push the GH baggage out and get in a new crew to take over and restore General Hospital, not the Jason and Sonny never die show.

People need to get over it. They're acting like it's happened in real life. It's just a soap, it's just a story. People seem to forget this is a soap opera, not a documentary.
The whole point of the s/l was to kill off Jake and give Jocelyn just one of his kidneys(where in the articles did they mention that?). Do people really expect the writers to be medically knowledgeable? They write in what they need to to get the s/l to go their way and they obviously don't care whether it's correct or not because that's not the point.
As for the writers killing off long-time characters with a lot of history on the show, that's another story. My opinion on that is separate from the hubbub about Jake.
Bring on the thumbs down now. I'm ready.

Wow, I didnt know that many people besides us soap fans were paying attention! I hope this will make GH wake up and pull a surprise on us. It seems like they could work something to make it not be jake at all. we never saw his body.

Thanks for posting. I hadn't known that it had made the news. I especially liked and agreed with the one in the Huffington post. Although this s/l did showcase some excellent acting, it was bad writing and should never have been done.

SEE, I told you SO.
Soap writers NEED a "historical department".
Writers come, and go. New fans may begin to watch.
But old/used story lines need to be avoided.
Especially THIS ONE!!
What were they thinking!?
