Equine FURminator - Anyone using it?

I picked up an equine FURminator this weekend after seeing it on sale for $30 at our local farm store. I knew I had seen them for around $50 when they first came out and wasn't about to pay THAT much for one. But, since I needed a new shedding tool this spring, I decided to give it a try.

I checked out their website and don't see the equine version there. Just the dog and cat sizes. Got me to wondering if they discontinued the equine version.

It seems to be working pretty well. The horses seem to enjoy it. My usually sensitive, thin skinned gelding doesn't even complain as he seems to do with anything else that I groom him with. Go figure! LOL

So, just curious if anyone out there is using it and what your opinions are. I know that we all have our own unique situations, likes and dislikes. Shedding time is always such a mess. For me, this tool seems to be making it a little easier this year.

Happy spring! :)

Oh it's splendid. I use it on my horse and my dog. My horse doesn't shed too bad, but the Furminator certainly gets the job done a lot quicker. And it works great on my Labrador who sheds more then my horse and pony combined. It's so much better than any shedding blade I've come across. Gift from the Gods :)

I haven't used the Furminator myself, but on a very popular horse blog I read, Fuglyblog.com, everyone is saying that the SleekEZ works even better than the Furminator and is cheaper. I'm about to buy one for myself for my birthday! The 10 inch horse model is $20 and the 5 inch dog one is $16. Not sure how they compare in real life, but at least the SleekEZ is cheaper, so I'm taking a chance with that one.

30 bucks? Send on my way and I'll pay your for it! The large dog ones around here are on sale for $60 and I'm afraid to know what a horse one would be...

I bought a knock off furminator for the cats and I. LOVE. IT. So do my cats!

I'm so sick of shedding... and I have to go deal with that... time for a new grooming stone :\

I think I have the dog one, but it works awesome on my horse. It's much neater than other shedding tools- the hair just collects on the teeth in a big clump instead of flying all over the place. My horse is sensitive too and it doesn't bother her a bit.

My friend uses one on her horse and she loves it. I have one for my dogs and I love it for them.

TO ALL OF YOU PAYING TONS OF MONEY FOR THEM:

This isn't an ad I swear! lol. I got my Furminator for my dogs, brand new, off of ebay for $10. I just looked and right now the cheapest for dogs is about $25, but that's still way better than what they are in stores! The horse ones on there are still $40+ though. But if you're looking for one for your dogs just check periodically to see new ones posted and you might be able to get one cheap too!
