I have Degenerative Disc Disease in my neck and back and Scoliosis...?
I have been having severe right shoulder pain for as long as I can remember. It feels like burning and stabbing and my neck and shoulder feel really tight. Now it is painful when I move my arm. I take a ton of Ibuprofen and I am icing it all the time. My doctor has decided to finally refer me to an orthopedic doctor. Does the DDD have anything to do with the shoulder pain? I have a very high tolerence to pain and I am miserable. This shoulder pain makes my back pain seem like a walk in the park... I have no idea what will happen once I see the orthopedic doctor. I am afraid that my doctor has let this go for too long and there is going to be damage that will require surgery ( I have seen her quite a few times for the same issue) . Any information, thoughts would be appreciated.
DDD = Degenerative Disc Disease (I didn't want to have to keep spelling it out). I have an MRI and I am getting another x-ray done on Monday so I have it for the Appt.
And I also get really bad headaches that last for days. Right now I feel like I was kicked in the back of my head right above my neck. My doctor gave me muscle relaxers and they are not helping at all.

Back pains are caused by pinched muscles. Icing something that is tight can lead to more pain, once the feelings return to that area or will help keep it tight longer. Heat would have been better in this case. You have tight and/or pinched muscles in your back to cause it to grow out of the norm as well, something is causing it to grow that way, the muscles are the only thing that can do that. To get relief in your back for both of these problems you have to free up your back muscles. Another person with scoliosis said after doing this a few times for a few days that he got enough relief from it that he opted out of surgery for his back, so I guess it works. Here's how to free up the back muscles for that relief:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
You said your neck is tight as well and that again would be the muscles being tight there. To get rid of that pain you have to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to free them up:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. For both- for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed. You also asked about the DDD. I think that is happening because of the tight back muscles. They pull on the vertebrae so tight and all that pressure is transferred to the disc which is the cause of the disc failures in the first place. Once you free up your back muscles it will release the pressure off the discs as well as getting rid of the pain so you should feel much better.

I not sure of your meaning of DDD. Ask your Doctor to order an MRI of the neck before you see the Orthopedic Doctor. It will save you a lot of time when you see the Orthopedic Doctor. Have you had any Xray of the shoulder. It you don't come with Xrays and MRI the Orthopedic Doctor don't want to see you. Surgery isn't that bad, I had a cervical fusion on my neck in September.
