What do i do if the # on my title doesnt match the number on my license plate (motorcycle CA)?

I went to sell my motorcycle today, and a prospective buyer noticed that the license plate actually affixed to the bike does not match the license plate # on the title.

I wasnt able to make the sale because i know its going to be a hassle for the buyer, but i want to know how to fix it and what its going to cost. PLEASE HELP ME!

(I live in southern CA)

take the paperwork to your local DMV and they should correct their typo for free. along with the plate.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. The license plate number should not be on the title. The title proves ownership. License plates prove registration. They are two separate things. Do you mean the VIN (vehicle identification number)? If those don't match, you have a problem. I'd call the DMV immediately to straighten this out.
