Word can open Works documents this way:

    1. Click the File tab on the Ribbon (assuming you have Office 2010. Any other version of Word, do CTRL/O).

    2. Set the little list box over the Open and Cancel buttons to Works 6.0-9.0 Document (*.wps).

    3. Navigate to and select the document.

    4. Open it.

If you want, you can then save a new copy as a Word Document with File->Save As.

    Hope that helps.

youll need to get works otherwise the files will be corrupted. Likewise you could just convert it to a notepad/wordpad file and open it, but then you would lose all the benefits of microsoft office.

Install the free LibreOffice, nobody pays for office software anymore. :)
