What does one do if the Doctor does not prescribe anything for you?
If a Person is diagnosed with Alzheimers is the Doctor supposed to give you either Tablets, or medicine to stop it getting worse. Or do they do nothing at all... ? I had a headache and they put me in a Mental Hospital.... I did not get anything nor was I told anything so after a week I got a Lawyer to get me out. My Doctor was notified and she wrote to the DVLA and took my Licence away. Now that has put me in a position of not having anyone to shop for me ( they do not provide that Service any more ) so here I am cannot go out as I cannot walk.... that is why I have a small car to enable me to get to the shops... but they took that off me. The Question is " what does one do for food " starve to death ? I have two Daughters but they do not live anywhere near...3.000 miles and 50 miles away. Anyone got any answers to this state I am in... thanks folks...

If you belong to a church or synagogue, contact them and see if they can help you with errands.
Next, get in contact with "Meals on Wheels" and see if they can include you in their rounds.
I would also get in contact with the Social Worker at a local hospital. The Social Worker (or known now as a Patient's Advocate) has access to unlimited resources to help you.
Your two daughters also have a responsibility to keep up with what is going on with you. Email them, call them, write to them and get them involved in helping you. If they have families, that is no excuse, as it's almost like they have abandoned you. They need to at least be aware of your struggles and to assist you occasionally financially, if not with periodic visits. Your family doesn't have to love you, but they do need to do the right thing. They need to help you maintain your independence. The longer you have your independence, the better off it is for them, as you will be not interfering in their lives as often.
Stress, hereditary sources, life experiences can cause a person to have varying degrees of mental illness. It is not the suffering person's fault. But there is responsibility on both parts: the ill person and family members. The family needs to assist, and the mentally ill person needs to follow the doctor's orders so that the illness stays under control. Its a win-win situation when everyone works together.
Do check out the resources available to you. Use the internet to find those sources and USE them!
