How do I go about following up on a job application?

I am a 17-year-old high school student with no prior work experience, and I emailed my resume to a pizza place who said they were hiring anyone 16 or older for counter help.

How should I contact them for a follow-up on my application status: call or email?

How long should I wait from the time I emailed the resume before I do a follow-up email/call?

And what do I say in the follow-up call/email?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

Update:

I have not gotten any response or interview or anything yet.

It's a good idea to follow-up! Many people do not do this. Call them, first stating your name, and tell them you have applied to the position and have not received a response yet and ask what the status of your application is. Thank them for the job opportunity. Good luck!

I'd phone personally your more likely to get a response that way otherwise you may be ignored
