If Vancouver plays Chicago in the first round, what do you think the result would be?

These two teams have a history of playing eachother with Chicago ending up on top.

What would you guess would be the end score of the series?

Disregarding their bad season, I'd say Canucks would win 4-3, a very close matchup.

Yeah, that was before the Blackhawks unloaded pretty much all of their depth due to salary cap problems.

It's hard to say, though, because both teams won 2 games against each other (once home, once away actually). It's possible for the Blackhawks to come out on top again, but that will be very difficult to accomplish.

The only thing the Blackhawks should focus on right now is actually making the playoffs. As long as Calgary and Dallas don't catch up, the Blackhawks are in. For how long is anyone's guess.

    Vancouver in 4 or 5

Previous playoffs have nothing to do with this year so you can pretty much discredit anything that has happened in the past and instead look closely at this year. The Canucks have dominated this season and I think that they will continue that trend into the playoffs. The Blackhawks have struggled this season and might not even make it into the playoffs. These are not the same teams that they were last year or the year before. Canucks are incredibly balanced and have a fantastic chance of going all the way.

  • Vancouver 4-1. This is not the same Canucks team, nor is it the same Hawks. For somebody above to claim 'Luongo is the only reason the Canucks are doing so well' shows a person who has no idea what has actually happened this year.

The Canucks lead the league in GF How did Luongo do that? They lead in GA: Okay, I'll give Lou some credit for that, but Schneider has an almost identical record, which suggests it's more the team. They lead in PP. Again, how did Lou do that? PK? Again, the goaltending record has been solid, but it takes more than a goalie to lead the league on PK.

No, this team does NOT lean on their goaltender anywhere near as much as last year or the year before.

Incidentally, did you note the article on NHL.com, showing that the only previous time that a team has lead in GF and GA in the post expansion era was Montreal with their massively dominant teams of the late 70s, and that NO team has ever lead in all four statistical categories at the end of the year? These Canucks are one of the most balanced teams not just of this year, but of all time. Now if they will just prove it in the playoffs.

Vancouver wins 4-2. The difference between this year and the past is the Hawks have no depth and are putting in playoff type efforts every single night just to try and get into the playoffs. That is a lot of energy spent and the Hawks are using a fairly short bench now meaning more ice time for the top guys...not an ingredient for playoff success. Same thing happened to the Wings last year...they spent so much energy just getting into the playoffs they couldnt match the intensity of the Sharks. If the Hawks get in expect similar results, it is just far too difficult to spend the kind of energy they have leading up to the playoffs to have much left in the tank.

    I say Canucks in 6

Vancouver in six, Buff was the canucks achilles heel without him I cant see the hawks winning this physically and I certainly don't think they have the depth or goaltending.
