how to reinstall windows 7 on SSD?

I just bought a new laptop and I want to install a SSD (solid state drive) but I am not sure how to reinstall windows 7 on the new drive. I have two options within the "backup and restore" area of the control panel. I can either create a system rescue cd or I can create a backup image of the OS. the rescue CD ends up being a couple hundred megabytes. I don't think this will be able to install the OS, since windows 7 must be much larger than a couple hundred meg. the second option takes 37GB.

so, what is the easiest way for me to reinstall my OS on the new drive?

Your laptop probably came with a recovery disc, you can use that to do a clean install of Windows.

If not, your only choice would be to do the system image backup, then burn the recovery disc, boot to that, and load the system image. Given the size of the image, you'll need an external hard drive to put it on.
