What is the most spiritually enlightening thing you have learned recently?

Can you explain it?

Quotes from any scripture are also welcomed.

Update:

Lisa, well, I'm not sure I can explain my most recent spiritually enlightening experience, lol! The problem with me is recently my short term memory has been very poor. I've read things and felt enlightened, but can't for the life of me formulate an explanation of it (yet). Hence why I was wondering what other people had experienced recently and could explain to me.

Update 2:

Thanks Phoenix <<grins>>. She was born December 6. So much love in me since she was born (but not much brains in me, lol. It's nice to feel the love and who cares about the rest, hey? :-)

Yoda, if it is not "spiritually enlightening" to you, how would you describe what those words of wisdom did to you when you read them?

This statement I read is not spiritually uplifting, as such a thing ''spirit'' is a mental illusion; also, it is an incorrect usage of the Latin word spirare "to breathe," (so if you are breathing you are alive, thats all having spirit means).

    U.G. Krishnamurti:

The plain fact is that if you don't have a problem, you create one. If you don't have a problem you don't feel that you are living.

My short term memory is also pretty poor, but one thing I keep relearning over and over again is how much I need God in my life. It seems like every time I turn around there I am getting in my own way again. Humbling myself, giving up my own wants and selfish desires, and listening (Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God) and looking (Deuteronomy 4:29 But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and with all your soul) for His Presence and His ways; these are the paths that lead to peace and enlightenment for me.

Watching the LDS Conference Sessions this weekend, I was struck by the counsel to be cheerful in our afflictions. They warned that our response to hardship may well be the criteria that determines our ultimate judgment and reward. What I heard without it being spoken was that we need to prepare ourselves for hardships to come. If we prepare ourselves mentally and spiritually to deal with hardships, then when they come, we won't be surprised or fearful, but prepared and confident. It seemed to me to be a clear warning that hardships were coming, more than what we have already seen this past year.

Men were also warned to change their ways and their attitudes to me more responsible and caring for their wives and children.

    It was a great conference.

That the Word of God is golden and that He really does know what's best for His own. Have you ever saw a wild kitten that looked hungry and you wanted to feed it but it didn't trust you and ran away hungry which made you feel helpless and inside you ached because you wanted to care for that lil' kitten? Well God isn't as powerless as we are and he made a way for us through His Son Jesus Christ. He draws us to Himself as an act of His love. He gives us who believe in His Son His Holy Spirit to comfort us. He made a way for you and me so we shouldn't be like that little kitten and we should trust Him because through Jesus Christ he actually created us to love us for eternity.

Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. [Ps. 55:22.] 1 Peter 5:7 Amp

I can't remember who said it but this quote is good . . . "For every one person who says, 'speak Lord for I am listening', there are a thousand who say, 'Listen Lord for I am speaking'."

An enlightening phrase? Shut up and listen. :-))
