Has anyone ever cross-referenced the Bible with Buddhist scripture?

ie. made a concordance that includes scripture from more than one religion? To make it more straight forward to learn differences and similarities between each faith.

Update:

"religion" / "philosophy" - whatever - it's just semantics; I'm sure you understand the meaning of my question. IMO, religion = re-connecting with God. To me, they are both ways of connecting with God/divinity. :-p

Very interesting idea. I don't know of one, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I starred this question in hopes that someone knows of one. Thich Nhat Hanh makes some references to the interconnectedness of the two traditions in one of his books, and so does Thomas Merton.

There a book out several years ago which cross-referenced the Sermon on the Mount with Hindu teachings. It was called "The Sermon on the Mount According to Vedanta".

Buddhism isn't really a faith since buddha didn't claim to be god. I'd classify it more as a way of life and agree with most of the teachings of buddha outside of reincarnation.

I haven't for Buddhism isn't a religion but a philosophie and religion is a cultural system long lasting repetition, by symbols beliefs...

  • That would be a mistake. We may have some shared values but Buddhists and Christians are worlds apart.
