The bible does not state the age of the earth. The 6,000 to 10,000 year old estimate is based on the genealogy and life span information provided in the bible. However, nowhere does it provide any indication of how long Adam & Eve lived in the garden God made for them before they were thrown out...it is just as likely that the genealogies point to the timing of that event, not the timing of creation.

That's a theological interpretation. Genesis 1 is not the actually physical creation but simply a Spiritual / mental blue print that is still unraveling in the progression of time. What God did in a instant is still unraveling in the realm of time and therefore creation is not fallen, as some believe but God's creating continues to be expressed in time. Genesis 2 speak about the beginning of the Adamic age which is only a segment of time in the unraveling. Between the time the grass sprouted and the creation of the physical Adam could have been millions or even billions of years. To God time doesn't matter and therefore the bible is not a world history book but is simply a Adamic book and it is indeed exclusive. Not all descend from Adam but identify more with their humanoid genes that come from Adam's offspring called the sons of God (Spiritual genetics) in Genesis 6 mixing with the humanoids (earthly animal genetics) through their daughters.

Sigh..... Once again.... The Bible is not a history book, a science book, nor a sociology book. When it speaks about history it does so with the concept of history which is VERY different than ours. When it speaks about science it speaks with the understanding of science of the day. And when it speaks about society it speaks about society as it was in that time and not making edicts as to how society should be for all time.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking what the scientific evidence for an old earth is? Or what the method is by which the evidence was accumulated? Science says what it says. If it conflicts with religious beliefs, then it's religion, not science, that has a problem.

However, more likely, the bible is being symbolic like it often is, and a day in God's perspective could be a thousand years or even more. The bible says "on the first day..." not "In the first 24hours 20th century earth time..."

It doesnt say that people just assume a day is a 24 hour period but if you look up the definition of a day it says it can be an 8 hour period or an era which can be a very long time a day is referencing the beginning and end of a period of time

People deny that the Earth is old because they haven't figured out that the Genesis passage was written to people who were herding sheep 3000 years ago. These sheep herders did not know about quantum relativity, string theory, Higg's boson or time frames of billions of years. The purpose of the Genesis account is about who (God) made the Universe, not about when or how he made it.

Remember they weren't there how can you even tell if your measuring equipment is truly accurate when they were not there Billions of years ago to confirm it. Dating methods have been proven to be notoriously wrong in many cases and others can't even be proven but are based on faith and faith alone.
