Why can't we cut Defense in the USA That we do not need?

I guess the easy answer is we can do it and like on here most do blame corporations which is not entirely wrong but not the real problem. Basically what it boils down to is are you willing to fight and sacrifice for your freedoms and that of others or do you prefer waking up someday to the news that were now under the control of say Russia or China or even India. You know the old saying that you never really appreciate what you have until you no longer have it. Freedom is not Free.

I am ok with cutting programs we don't need in defense spending, but you need to know that defense spending is roughly 5% of the GDP. I think that leaves alot of room to cut in other areas first.

Actually, Japan pays for our troops and bases. It is also part of the treaty signed at the end of WWII. Therefore, it is deficit neutral to keep troops in Japan.

We have not won a war in decades and obama is surrendering everywhere, Your correct, We do not need it.

The military wins all the battles and our sorry government lets us down. We elected em.

We tax payers exist to support our militaristic empire. Cruise missiles, the peace offerings of a new century to insure we have enough oil.

We don't have a miltary base in Russia.
