How do I find a cheap, registered & certified electrician ?
I am having to buy a brand new electric cooker (the previous one having been burned to a cinder ) and the council have told me it is now a legal requirement that electric cookers are installed by fully qualified and registered electricians. The cost of the cooker itself is causing enough problems to raise and so I need to get it installed as cheaply, but legally as possible. The alternative is to find the cheapest deal from a supplier who will also install and deliver. Any help/suggestions would be so gratefully received. Please, please don't raise the subject of insurance as it's a very sore subject at the moment !

Hello Kate
Do you still have a Main Cooker Point?
Because connecting a cooker to an existing cooker point does not come under part P of the building regs so you can do it yourself. It's no harder than wiring a plug.
Not Notifiable if Connecting a cooker to an existing connection unit Replacing a damaged cable for a single circuit (cable to be the same size and type and installed as original) Replacing a damaged accessory such as a light switch or socket outlet.

The Best bit is they have reviews and ratings from customers to help you find somebody you can trust. kind regards.
