  • Help PLEASE I desperately need to get my life, house, body and mind in order !?

It seems as though every area of my life (home, relationships, work, health, financial, (lack of) quality of life, my own thoughts, dreams and aspirations etc. etc. etc.is upside-down, lost or intricately tied up with circumstances I can't change. I have tried asking for help from a few people and organizations who theoretically are my closest allies, yet am steadily (over a 2 year period) finding myself more confused, useless, unmotivated and unproductive and am causing distress to those close to me.

Are there any life coaches who give their services free of charge ? Or those in training who would like a case study ?

Any help or suggestions would be most gratefully received.

    Many thanks

  • User Manual needed Kenwood Microwave GTAL 17?

    Hi,

I desperately need a user manual for a microwave we have been given by a friend who no longer has the manual. It is a Kenwood KEN GTAL 17 model, serial number 0950067345.

I have tried searching through the product manuals on Kenwood.co.uk, kenwood.com and kenwoodworld, com with no luck.

Having been passed from Kenwood customer services to DeLonhi then to Currys and finally back to Kenwood, the only suggestion they could come up with was to search the internet !!!! Having spent most of the day doing precisely that I'm on the verge of tearing my hair out.

Please can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get one, either a downloadable pdf or somewhere to send of for one ?

Many thanks for reading and hopefully being able to offer some advice.

  • My laptop says that my copy of Windows 7 is not genuine, I know that it is, any help appreciated?

I have had this Lenovo laptop for almost 18 months. It came directly from the manufacturers with Windows 7 already installed on it. I have never had any problems with Windows on it before but tonight when I turned it on after I had inadvertently left it with a dead battery for about 12 hours or so, it came up saying that my copy of Windows is not genuine. After following the suggested links I was about to type in the product key from the sticker underneath the laptop but I just wanted to know whether doing this will clear programs and personal files etc from the laptop.

I would really appreciate any help with this. As it is nearly midnight, I cannot access Lenovo's technical department but having been away on holiday for a week I have a lot to catch up on overnight and need to use the laptop to do so, but I don't want to do this if there is a problem with my Windows, especially as I had a pop up notification saying that I may have been a victim of fraudulent software (although I don't see how this can have happened). I have downloaded and run the Windows verification tool and it still says that the copy is not genuine.

    Many thanks in advance

  • What's wrong with petrol strimmer ?

    Your Open Question:

Our petrol strimmer ticks over fine but as soon as the throttle is applied the engine cuts out. I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but just can't get my brain in gear (must be the warm weather lol).

Please could someone suggest what might be wrong and/or how to fix it ?

  • How do I find a cheap, registered & certified electrician ?

I am having to buy a brand new electric cooker (the previous one having been burned to a cinder ) and the council have told me it is now a legal requirement that electric cookers are installed by fully qualified and registered electricians. The cost of the cooker itself is causing enough problems to raise and so I need to get it installed as cheaply, but legally as possible. The alternative is to find the cheapest deal from a supplier who will also install and deliver. Any help/suggestions would be so gratefully received. Please, please don't raise the subject of insurance as it's a very sore subject at the moment !

  • Where is the built-in antenna on my BlackBerry Curve 9300 or how can I find this information?

I know it might make no difference, but as my signal is poor inside my house I've bought one of those stick-on signal boosters just on the off-chance that it may help a tiny bit. The wi-fi reception is not a problem, that picks up fine from my wireless router in the house and the signal outside is great. It's just the Orange signal (for calls and texts) in the house which can be very temperamental when it wants to be !! Not just my phone, but it's always been the same for anyone with Orange here.

The instructions with this little booster sticker say to stick it "on the inside of the phone as close to and in the same direction (if possible) as the built-in antenna."

Well I've searched, Googled, Binged asked Jeeves etc, but can I find out where, let alone in which direction the Curve 9300's built-in antenna is ? Nope not at all !

So I wondered if anyone here can help me at all ?

    Thanks for reading this,

  • Mobile signal (Orange) poor indoors.?

No matter which house I've been in in this area no-body seems able to get a good signal with Orange, although never had a problem with O2 or Vodafone.

Sometimes the signal's fine then it just disappears completely only to re-appear a few minutes later, or in another part of the house (don't fancy spending all day & night in the bathroom or garden though !).

I was fool enough to believe that if I had a contract phone with Orange which used UMA technology, this new deal that Orange have with T-mobile to increase coverage and also 3G, that it would be the answer. Nope makes no difference at all !!! It's not the phone, that's fine anywhere else, even in a few houses in the area and I've had phone for 6 weeks now with no improvement.

I know that ideally I would be with another network provider but my daughter took out this handset as an extra one on her contract so I'm pretty much stuck with it.

Is there any way of increasing the strength/reception of my phone ? It's a BlackBerry Curve 9300 (Model RDB71UW).

    Many thanks

  • Taking old thick carpet glue from concrete internal stairs?

I am trying to get rid of thick, old glue ( not sure shat type ) which had been used by previous owners to glue carpet down to the interior concrete stairs leading up to a friend's flat.

I have tried using paint thinner and also using a chisel/mallet but to no avail.

Even if I manage to chip off the very thick lumps I would like to be able to remove it all so I can paint the steps for my friend as that is what they'd like doing. Some of it is really thin so just chipping away at it will take forever and still wouldn't really be a brilliant result.

Someone has suggested I buy a heat-gun but I wondered if there was a product available (at a reasonable price) in the Uk which I could just put onto the steps and it would dissolve the glue so it could be easily removed. The least physical effort for me the better as I have health issues which mean I can't exert myself too much (and my friend is even worse than me).

  • Can I use PS1 copied games on PS2 or pc ?

My daughter has dozens of copied games which played on her old PS1 which had been chipped but it has long since bitten the dust. She says they won't play on her PS2 which hasn't been chipped. Is there any way I can convert the games so they will play on her PS2 or a PC/laptop or a Nintendo Wii ? She really wants to keep the games and still be ble to use them, but I just can't afford to buy even a second hand PS1.

Can anyone help me see a way around this problem ?

  • Network, connection and router problem, please can you help ?

My Internet connection freezes every now and then, sometimes every few minutes and sometimes every couple of days and anywhere in between (although I have been told that there is nothing wrong with the router itself but that it's probably because of a 'wireless network security problem').

If I disconnect then reconnect the power supply to the router it starts working again fine.

I have been using the network with no problems until about 10 weeks ago when this problem started, it began around the time that a friend began using their laptop here with this wireless connection (up until last week) although that may be coincidence.

The network is unsecured - has been ever since I set it up when I had my first laptop (about 4 years ago ?) and I know it needs to be made secure but am not sure how to do it so that I can use *my desktop, *my current laptop, *my daughter's laptop (DAUGHTER A) which started being used on December 25th using a new TP-Link (N series) wireless dongle (the problems started way before this was even brought into the house) and also *my other daughter's laptop (DAUGHTER B) - which hasn't been powered up since June 2010 but will be being brought here soon and connected wirelessly, *plus any others which may be brought into the house and used with my permission (and me entering they key/PIN/password for the network).

Details which may be useful are :-

DESKTOP - XP - connected to router via ethernet cable - Norton Internet Security

MY LAPTOP - Windows - 7 connected wirelessly with card - Norton Internet Security

DAUGHTER A's LAPTOP - Windows XP - connected wirelessly with a TP-Link dongle - Norton Internet Security

DAUGHTER B's LAPTOP - Windows 7 - to be connected wirelessly with card - will be using VirginMedia Security

    ROUTER - Belkin 54g (Model F5D7230-4 version 6000uk)

    Norton Internet Security (version 17.8.0.5)

    BROADBAND ISP - VirginMedia

I have a sneaking suspicion that someone / something may be accessing (or trying to access) one or more of the computers or interfering with the connection itself somehow although this may just be plain and simple paranoia on my part.

I have never upgraded/updated the router nor has it been reset (although I know I can and maybe should do both). I was going to reset it and then put in a password to secure it, then upgrade it following the manual's instructions, but have just remembered hearing that problems have been reported with Belkin routers and VirginMedia so didn't want to do anything without asking advice here first.

I have replaced the ethernet cable between the modem and router and also the one linking the router and desktop pc with brand new ones and this made no difference.

It is fairly obvious, I think, to anyone who reads this, that my technical knowledge is pretty poor. I know there are loads of tutorials and help sites out there to assist me, but nothing which seems to explain in simple terms how to do these things while re-assuring me that I'm not going to mess up my network, computers, (hardware & software), accounts or anything else.

I am perfectly capable, however, of following instructions when told what what actually needs doing and in which order so the family can all return to using our computers without having to frequently disconnect and reconnect the router and worry about 'safety'.

The information on (a)how make the network connection 'secure' (b) preventing the Internet connection to keep cutting out and (c) configuring the Norton Network Security Map (without giving away any information to anyone who may already have unauthorized access to the network or computers) just seems to be overwhelming, contradictory and confusing.

Please, please could someone tell me how to alter things so as to sort these problems out ?

Yes, I know that I am daft having been using computers, the Internet (wired and wirelessly) and Norton for so long but without actually understanding anything properly, but I do want to rectify the problem now :)

Have I confused you as much as I have myself ? I hope not !!

To put things in a nutshell I'd like to

    1) make my network 'secure'

    2) know what my IP address is (is the one for the wired desktop the same as the one for the wirelessly connected laptops ?)

    3) sort out the problem with losing the Internet and needing to re-boot the router so often in order to re-connect

    4) block anyone who has already accessed any of our computers or the system already

    5) know whether I need to change any IP addresses or other relevant information when it's all done in case anyone else has got hold of it (including site/membership/account password or user names etc)

Ok, I'm pausing for a long, deep breath now and hoping that someone may be able to tell me how to sort all of this out in whatever order it needs to be done.

    Regards
