Why are protein and iron found together?

and if you can find any other examples of nutrients that are commonly found together in food, that'd be awesome. but if not, a quick, simple explanation of why protein and iron are found together would be great :)

    iron exists in many foods in trace amounts, but requires chelation (protein-binding) to be absorbed by most mammals. So even if a low-protein food had lots of iron, very little would be available.
